Cedo 599 Digitial Futures Week 2

I'm pretty excited about our final project for this cohort.  I have decided to use a site called Edmodo for my two Civics classes next school year.  Edmodo is a lot like Facebook.  It is basically a social network for students to use around school.  Instead of Friends, Edmodo has Connections.  I can connect to other teachers or with all of my students in both classes.  I can put posts on my wall that can be seen by my students.  I'm really looking forward to being able to put class information on Edmodo as well as assignments for the year.  If anyone has experience using this, please comment on my post.

  1. A social network that students can safely use is something that my students were requesting for me to include as part of my research/presentation resource site. I don't know if I would be able to implement this before CEDO 599 is over. But maybe it could be part of what I could do for my school before summer ends.

  2. I myself have never had any experience with Edmodo. However, I have wanted to also incorporate it into my classroom. I think the students will really enjoy using it. I am not sure how I would encorporate4 it into my classroom. I look forward to seeing how you do and maybe piggybacking off your idea for my own!

  3. I think it's great that you're using Edmodo. It plays right into what they're already using. Of course, Facebook is now looking to expand into younger students (pre-13 y.o.) according to this morning Techbytes on ABC

There may be a way soon for teachers to actually use FB in their classrooms.

    We shall see.

  4. Bill I haven't used Edmondo, but I do recall someone in our cohort has. It seems like a great way to interact with your students, especially since so many of them already like or use social networking sites. Do you most of your students have access to computers in home and school? Many of mine do not.
